Moderna's discovery of a new vaccine gives hope to people after showing 94.5% efficacy

On Monday, an American-based biotechnology company, Moderna, announced a new vaccine contributing to the fight against Covid-19.

The newly discovered vaccine had already exceeded the expectation showing 94.5% efficacy in curing people.

Unlike Pfizer’s vaccine, this can be in fridge temperature.

The discovery of this vaccine can be a happy sign for countries like the United States due to increasing cases of Covid-19 and death rates. American physician and a senior member of the current White House Coronavirus Task Force, Dr. Anthony Fauci, was impressed with the new vaccine discovered by Moderna.

I must admit that I would have been satisfied with 70 or at the most 75 percent efficacy, Fauci said when asked about the vaccine. In January, he is the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director, developing with the U.S biotech.

This type of vaccine is different from the traditional vaccines discovered to date. This vaccine uses a new synthetic version of a molecule called messenger RNA. Unlike the new vaccine, traditional vaccines use actual viruses which are grown from fetal cell lines.

No vaccines using messenger RNA have got approval. The new vaccine hacks into human cells and turns them into vaccine-making factories. The traditional vaccines are grown from fetal cell lines and are weakened for several months to ensure that they do not harm people.

But it is still a question that remains unanswered, how long the immune would last in the newly discovered vaccine.
